Runway damaged in Sydney after the takeoff of an A380

Sydney (Australia) - Airbus A380-800 registration VH-OQH, the Australian airline Qantas, performing flight QF-11 from Sydney (Australia) to Los Angeles (California / USA), had just taken off the track 34L when the crew of an aircraft on the taxiway reported to the control tower, the presence of a foreign object on the Runway.

The crew of another aircraft on the taxiway was also reported that a sign had been ripped off taxiway after the passage of the A380. Following this, a plane was on approach to runway 34L has had to go-around. The track was then closed forcing other loans off to return to the car park to be directed to other tracks aircraft.




After inspection of the runway, it turned out that part of the coating it has been damaged. Kingsford Smith Airport in Sydney has taken the normal course of its operations after 5 hours of disruption. The Airbus A380 continued its flight normally.
